About The Author

I started doing web design in 1997 by buying a book called “Learn HTML in 24 Hours” and coding in Notepad. My first site was for McGill University (shortly after buying that book). Since then I have moved on to working for the 3rd largest social networking site in the country and I am currently working for an e-commerce company for such clients as Docker, MBL and others. Here are some of my more interesting projects:

myYearbook.com - myYearbook is the 3th largest social network in the U.S.A.. I work on various parts of the site as needed, but the first major project I completed was the myMag section. I created the content management systems as well as building the forum system from scratch. Aside from getting Photoshop mock-ups as guidance, everything else was done by me (CSS, PHP, AJAX, SQL , Database tables, etc. ).

DigitallyU - This is a digital portfolio creation software for creating Flash based multi-media portfolios. It comes in three versions; Professional, Student and Scrapbook. I designed and built the editor program for all three versions using Flash ActionScript, XML and MDM Zinc. This is a desktop application with the interface built in Flash with full system manipulation capabilities such as access to the local file system. This was done back before Adobe Integrate Runtime even existed.

GSI Commerce -Specializes in e-commerce systems. Check out the client list here.

I am often asked if I prefer front-end or back-end work. I always have to pause when asked this question, because the answer is both. For many of the projects I have worked on I have designed the whole thing start to finish. This included the interface design, graphic creation, business logic and database design. I see no reason to limit myself.

So now that you know a little about me, feel free to browse around. You can find various samples of my work, some of general thoughts on development (bot web and software), in the pages and blog posts found in the navigation on the left.
